Psychiatry

​A psychiatrist is a qualified medical doctor who has obtained additional qualifications to become a specialist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness and emotional problems

Prerequisites

  • Evidence of good standing and current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia or New Zealand

  • Satisfactory completion of post graduate year 1

  • secure employment as a Junior Medical Doctor

  • Acceptance into Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
